Divx support coming to PS3

Category

So there are two things hooked up to my Big TV one is a TivoHD and the other is a PS3, both have HDMI output.  The PS3 I purchased originally, not for games, but as a Blue Ray DVD player.  It had the added bonus that it plays games, and it also acts as a media player.  I actually play movies that are stored on my PC through the Playstation.  It works great, but it had an issue with Divx movies.  I got around that by running TVersity on my PC.  TVersity combined with the FFDshow codecs, would then transcode the Divx movies on the fly into a format the Playstation could understand.  The transcoding step will no longer be needed with this support as the PS3 will be able to play the Divx files natively.  Superb.
