IBM ties OpenOffice suite to real-time communications platform

IBM ties OpenOffice suite to real-time communications platform - So I think how I read this is that in Sametime 8 the slide upload filters will be updated to include the Symphony file formats, however Sametime 7.5.1 already incudes support for :

OpenOffice Impress, Versions 1.1, 2.0 (text only) SDD, SXI
OpenOffice Writer, Versions 1.1, 2.0 (text-only) SXW
OpenOffice Calc, Versions 1.1, 2.0 (text-only) SDC, SXC
StarOffice Calc, Versions 5.2, 6.x, 7.x and 8.0 (text only) ODS
StarOffice Impress, 5.2, 6.x, 7.x and 8.0 (text only) ODP
StarOffice Writer, Versions 5.2, 6.x, 7.x, and 8.0 (text only) ODT

So I suppose what it means is that maybe they won't be text only, and you'll get included pictures, tables etc ie full fidelity?

The other part of the article talks about realtime awareness in the editos. I'm looking forward to seeing how this is approached. IBM has an opportunity to either do something similar to SmartTags, or realise that the SmartTag method is is broken and go about it in a whole new way.
