David Beckham to join the LA Galaxy MLS league.

Category
Beckham agrees to LA Galaxy move and will leave Real Madrid and join Major League Soccer side LA Galaxy at the end of the season. This is big news for MLS, their first really big football star, with a real world football salary. It will be interesting to see if people are more interested in his soccer skills or his and Victorias off pitch activities.

Gravatar Image2 - Don't know about avoiding early retirement - its a move to ensure you have plenty of dosh for the rest of your life. $1M a week - could you say no thanks.

Gravatar Image3 - I just wonder if this is going to be a repeat of Pele joining the NASL in the 70s. In the end, it was a total sham. I hope this isn't the same thing, especially considering how much money they are paying.

Gravatar Image4 - It is a huge amount of money, but then again he brings a huge presence with him. It's not just his footballing skills, but his wife and the media coverage too.

Football in the USA is far more popular than it was when Pele came over in the 70s. So maybe this type of high profile signing can help get it more adopted. All we need now are more team in the MLS, to make it more exciting.
