For the last few days I have been travelling around Normandy with my brother, a couple of his mates and his soon to be new father in-law visiting the cemeteries and landing zones from the D-Day invasions. A very sobering experience.
Without visiting Normandy, it is hard to imagine the scale, planning and courage of the operation. Seeing the sites, the defences and the graves of the thousands invloved, does make you very aware of the sacrifices so many made.
