After today

Category
It looks like we may no longer be able to work with laptops etc. on planes. Now I'm waiting for the coalition of breast feeders to announce that women with babies should breast feed to ease their trip through security.

To be serious for a second, as this is a serious subject, the security measures imposed today just show how ineffective the security checks we have had since Setp 11th have been, sure we haven't had an attack, but that does not mean we were safer. If politicians had been as serious about security as they tried to lead us to believe, these restrictions would have been there since day 1. I imagine duty free is going to be shut down too, have you seen how explosive whisky can be?

Gravatar Image1 - Actually, I'm waiting for the Gov't to announce that women much place their breasts into their checked luggage to make sure that liquid isn't part of a terrorist plot...

Seriously? The Israeli's have told us all along that this is the wrong way to handle security. They rely on well trained people who conduct thorough interviews and use their intelligence. Trying to ban everything a terrorist could possibly use? Soon we'll all be flying in the nude! Not a sight anyone one MY flights should look forward to.

Gravatar Image2 - Duty free - that does make you wonder. If you can't bring a liquid on board, the duty free shops are pretty much dead...unless there's an exclusion.

Gravatar Image3 - Part of the reason the security may seem ineffective is that we are using a government agency to do it!!

I don't really want to go there, but there's a certain "P" word that we need to keep in mind here. Old ladies aren't the ones mixing up acetone and hydrogen peroxide bombs...

Gravatar Image4 - Did someone mention whisky ?

Actually, there's a porto-rican rum thats 151 proof - 151 rum. It actually states "Danger - inflammable" on the label.

Or a very expensive cask strengh. But hey - you would *have* to be contemplating suicide to not drink the stuff...

No laptops on planes ? What about iPods ? CrackBerries ?

Damn. Neural implant time, methinks. And this is where folks like me - obese folks like me - can pack some *real* hardware...

Gravatar Image5 - The only real solution is to stop transporting people around en mass so as to be an easy target for multiple deaths. We have to get the transporter technology to move forward quickly. Then we can send one person at a time and they can take whatever they want. Can you say "Beam me up, Scotty"? Tardus anyone?

Gravatar Image6 - The Israeli's have a saying: You can't look for weapons, you must look for terrorists. Meaning, you must PROFILE passengers! Imagine that??!
