Most of the spam I see in our logs now is hardly readable by humans, what's the point of that? Isn't spams purpose to sell something, or is it now being done purely for aggravation?

Gravatar Image1 - Yeah, I was thinking of this myself the other day. A get quite a few "verification message" as they say, maybe there some giant indexing thing going on where they want to measure how well the spams get spread these days.

Anyway, on the blog http://akismet.com/ helps me out. In my private mail I'm using gmail and it works great. At work we have plenty of filters including white/black and grey lists. But I still get some requests to help out som poor guy in Nigeria.
