The new Notes client is looking good...

Category
One thing I wonder though, how does it all look at 1024x768? More than 50% of all visitors to this blog are still using 1024x768, some are still even using 800x600. From all the screenshots I've seen it will be interesting to see how cluttered the UI looks at the most common resolution.

Gravatar Image1 - That has been my concern with the thin client from the day they announced it (as well as performance)

Gravatar Image2 - Heck, my screen won't even display more than 1024x768.

Sean---

Gravatar Image3 - I've been using some screen shots in 1024x768, kein problem. 800x600 isn't even officially supported for Notes 7 (or even 6.x, I think) so seems unlikely for Notes "Hannover".

Gravatar Image4 - I don't think this is a "Hannover" specific issue. More and more web sites these days are better at high resolutions. Have you seen Office 2007 screens? Outlook 2007 has four different columns of information! Similarly, I downloaded some high resolution movie trailers the other day, and they were larger than my screen.

Gravatar Image5 - Alan, I don't like your answer as it's a cop out. Just cos everyone else does it, does not mean it's the correct thing to do. Everyone else does just mail, but IBM doesn't because they're smarter than that. I think...

Gravatar Image6 - I, too, have folks running 800x600, but I think 1024x768 is a fair target to shoot for. Any PC with enough intestinal fortitude to run Hannover reallllly ought to be able to 1024x768. Plus, by the time we're comfortable enough with Hannover (8.01?) for very broad rollouts, that really should be the standard....

Gravatar Image7 - or should I say "any PC or MAC".....

Gravatar Image8 - Hey Carl, what about how is it going to run on your (british made) Sinclair ZX81 ? let's get real, this is 2006, one can buy a 19" LCD screen for 250 US$ at best buy.

Gravatar Image9 - Joel a lot of laptops that are purchased are still only capable of 1024x768.

The numbers I quoted are from web site visits. Take a look at stats from various places

My point is, not every sits at a desk with a 21 inch monitor, not everyone works for a hardware vendor.

Keep adding stuff to the screen, but if the 1024x768 users aren't taken into account, who knows how successfuly your product will roll out.
