Sprint just don't understand the benefit of + dialling for international..

Category
My discussion with Sprint around international dialling from my phone has switched to e-mail, as the people at the end of the phone really don't know much apart from how much money I owe on my bill. So the problem was this, + dialling for international doesn't work as advertised or described in the manual. So the first reply I got to the issue from Sprint via email was this:

Thank you for contacting Sprint together with Nextel regarding the use of '+' for dialing International Calls.

Just to inform you that you can use either '011' followed by the country code or '+1' followed by the Country code to dial any International number.

The '+'  sign is the replacement for '01' and not '011'.

OK I admit I had probably missed something and forgot that maybe I had to do +144 to dial UK, but strangely that was not how I remembered it. Anyway it didn't really matter as their suggestion didn't work, which lead to another email and another reply..

Kindly try +9144 when you call to UK or +91 and the number when calling to any other country.

I am sure this will work. If this also does not work.  Kindly visit your nearest Sprint Store located in your area.  To find these stores you may click on the hyperlink http://www.sprintstorelocator.com.  There you just need to enter the zip code of your area and will get the list of all the Sprint Stores near and around your area.

Guess what this didn't work either...So I will take a trip to a sprint PCS store, chat with the pimple popping, white sock wearing, chew gumming, never been abroad so why do you need intl dialling sales guy, on break from college to be told, hhmm not sure what the problem is...

Gravatar Image1 - Geez, gotta love the the approach they're taking here. Even IF +1xxx or +91xxx would work from the USA, that still wouldn't help you from any other country. From what I understand, the standard is +[intl prefix], so that as soon as you dial the +, the phone provider translates that into whatever is needed to get out of the country you're currently in. Oh well ...

Gravatar Image2 - God that sucks.

I remember testing international SMS for vodaphone in the EARLY NINETIES and even then, all over Europe, I could use "+" and use the same numbers all the time...

Change service providers. Sprint are clearly clueless.
