Why Sprint suck...

Category
Sprint it seems have little idea of the rest of the world when it comes to SMS and simple common sense. As more and more people travel with their phones individuals get into the habit of using the common dialling technique of using + in front of a country code and then the number, so for example to call the UK I would have +44. Now the Manual that came with my Sprint Treo mentions this in the manual, it even mentions it on the website. Does it work in reality? No. What do Sprint say when you call them? Oh that is a Palm feature, you should call them. Arggh, so this means I have to use the full dial code from the US, so to call the UK i need 01144, this is great if you never leave the US, but if you travel with your phone to another country you have to edit the numbers in the address book. This view of the world that no one travels, may also explain why Sprint SMS messages being sent internationally are so hit or miss.

The other shortcoming I have found with the Treo software, is there is no way to add an unknown incoming number to an existing number in your contact book. You end up with a duplicate address book entry. Saying that it does look like I cat get a 3rd party solution called takephone that addresses this major usability issue.
