Volker comments on the lack of upcoming Lotus residencies. I really hope he's wrong. I know the redbook folks at Lotus have constantly struggled to get budget for their team and new books which is just crazy. Redbooks are probably one of the lowest cost marketing efforts with highest return. Redbooks are like Bibles to developers, how many times have we all referred to a redbook for some tidbit of information that has saved us days of personal struggle?
This is an area where Microsoft constantly seems to get it better than their competitors. Microsoft tends to have development tools out before the platform so apps can be built by third parties for products before they ship, and Microsoft has Microsoft Press which churns out information (Lotus once had Lotus Press not sure whatever happened to that).
If you value and use Redbooks, be sure to call you IBM/Lotus sales rep today and tell them LOUDLY.
