IMlogic COO leaves for Choicestream

Category
ChoiceStream Appoints David McFarlane Executive Vice President of Sales, Marketing and Client Services

I always question IMlogic's claim of being the leader in the Instant Messaging Market, as in the Fortune 500 companies we deal with, most of them are using or working with Facetime, and I very very rarely come across IMlogic. I think this is probably because IMLogic tied themselves very early in the game to the Microsoft IM solutions, which have been adopted slowly so IMLogic has had to play catch up in the Sametime arena.

Gravatar Image1 - I have to disagree. Having worked as a consultant on both solutions I find that Sametime, while totally silent on its own marketing front in the face of the LCS blitz usually is found in larger deployments. Large deployments usually = death for Face Time. Face Time has a cool feature of adding the disclaimers to the window of Sametime messages but that alone doesn't save them from their architecture. ( IM logic does this also but it looks different) Speaking with the onsite IMlogic SE during an eval I was working on said that a bank that invested in Face Time and was using Face Time for 100 users initially, tried to scale it to 40k users and they had to junk it and go to IMlogic. (They used Sametime and Public IM)That is a silver bullet. If your investors can't make your stuff work life doesn't look good. A place with 40k users would need a uhaul of Face Time appliances. But you are correct IMLogic has the closet ties to LCS/ and has access to the native API's of LCS. I have to say that IBM needs to do something if they want to keep all those large deployments from MSFT especially with Ray Ozzie working for the enemy now. Even a little marketing BS from Sametime about an interopability client 10 years down the road would probably keep a lot of Sametime messaging guys from getting the wandering eye for LCS.
