Looks like AOL is starting a marketing push for AIM awareness within other apps...

The AOL Instant Messenger ''AIM'' Service Teams with Top Sites and Services to Help Users Connect and Communicate in Real Time. The biggest issue for people building these apps is mapping their internal names to their AOL names, after all, how do you know that bigyboy297 is really your CIO's AIM name? We do it with IMtegrity by having a mapping table, but it's an interesting issue if you want to integate AOL into your applications.

Gravatar Image1 - Have you gotten this to work? I shut down AIM and Outlook, installed the new package (which apparently installs a new version of AIM), then launched everything again. I can't tell the difference.

Gravatar Image2 - I haven't tried, I use Trillian so don't even have AIM installed on my machine. I'll have to try it in a VM Ware session where I have AIM installed.

Gravatar Image3 - Yipes, I don't think I'd want to know if that was my CIO's AIM screen name. It would be interesting to write a paper on the psychology of screen names as more systems integrate public and private systems.
