IBM lotus Instant Messaging/Sametime tip concerning Hyper Threading

Category
A simple tip really, if you want Sametime meetings to go active on your server and your server is a machine with Intel hyperthreading, turn it off. Otherwise you will see issues where schedulled meetings do not go active.

Gravatar Image1 - Does this reduce performance as well or is hyperthreading anyway not supported ?

Gravatar Image2 - Well I guess if it works versus not working the performance is better. This technote says it doesn't work and to turn it off, we had it on, and it doesn't work.

Gravatar Image3 - Hi Carl, I'm told by IBM that this is not a problem with 6.5.1 can you confirm that it is ?

Many thanks..

Gravatar Image4 - IT IS, I say again, IT IS a problem with 6.5.1

Carl

Gravatar Image5 - Thanks mate.

I asked IBM again, and they are now saying it happens randomly on different server hardware... arrhhh...

Gravatar Image6 - Do we know if Hyperthreading is still a problem on SameTime 7.0 and/or 7.5?
I am starting to think about a update from 6.5.1 and want to plan accordingly.

Gravatar Image7 - I don't believe there is any change in this. I know I have seen the problem on Sametime 7.0 servers.
