Maybe someone can save me sometime and stop me reinventing the wheel.

Any Dominuo gurus, feel free to help me out, I'll buy you a few beers in return.  I have a database accessed on the web, I want to be able to attach files to the db, but I want to limit the size.  Changing the size option in the Server document isn't really an option as it could be set to a different size for each db.  I think I need to check the size before the file is attached, otherwise Domino will get sent the whole file before I can check the size (is this assumption correct?)  So anyone ever written a tiny java applet that checks the file size before the document is submitted to the server?
