This weekend was pretty much spent on boats. Saturday in Boston harbour on a friend's motor boat, and Sunday and Monday down in Newport on friend's sail boats. The Queen Mary II was in Newport for the fireworks as security wouldn't let it into New York city. I have to say, that is one big ship, she's currently the world's largest, longest and tallest ocean liner, ever.

If you want to catch a sporting event that does not involve Americans then Newport is not the place to be. Not one, and I checked them all, was showing the Portugal - Greece game, which by now everyone knows Greece won. One of the guys I was sailing with has Greek parents, so I'm glad to say he kept calling with regular updates on the score, I'm sure he's still getting over his hangover. It will be interesting to see if the Olympics in Athens creates as much atmosphere there as winning Euro2004 has.

Thanks to the Americans who helped celebrate my parents 40th wedding anniversary by holding firework displays , they really appreciated it.
