Sametime and Quickplace conference

Category
Yesterday I presented at the Sametime and Quickplace conference. It was a fairly dissapointing turnout with approx 20 people. Wes Morgan from IBM did an excellent presentation on Networking issues with Lotus Sametime with good advice for everyone. Marjorie Schejter also did a great presentation on the bridge gateway that will exist between Lotus Sametime and Lotus Workplace, on what it will do and what it won't etc. I was good and saved my hard questions for Marjorie till another time.

From the usergroup meeting the night before, I wanted to point out some of the great numbers shared on IM usage within a couple of companies, one large consultantcy with 110,000 employees, talked about their Sametime usage and deployment. One of the stats I found most interesting from that presentation were the number of chat's per month. It was in the millions, I'll post the exact numbers later when I can open the presentation.

Gravatar Image1 - I was interested in attending this, but the location was a problem, if it had been in central London I probably could have made it.

Also as there seems to be very little new features in the latest versions of quickplace and sametime, it was difficult to justify the cost, even though I could have pisked up usefull information from the presenters.

Gravatar Image2 - I wish the presentations were recorded for Webcasts. I could justify the conference-fee, just not the travel expenses.
