First fish of the year

I went fishing last night and caught the fish pictured on the right, I think it's a bass, can anyone confirm or deny? It weighed about 1 1/2 pounds.

Gravatar Image3 - It is a largemouth bass, as opposed to a smallmouth bass. Both look very similar, but how you tell the difference is that when you close the mouth, the rear end of the mouth on a large mouth will extend past the eyes. (Does that make sense?)
Looks like a silver Rattlin' Rap attached to it, eh?

Sadly I lost it about 5 minutes later when a 20 lb fish snapped the line. Or that's what I like to think.
