Some amazing prices on airlines at the moment

Category
My Yahoo travel alerts sent me some interesting prices today. One that really jumped out was Boston - San Francisco return for measly $163! Lets think about this for a second, in my gas guzzling car it would be 3112 miles and 48 hours each way, so 6224 miles and 96 hours total, so assuming petrol at $1.60 a gallon (US gas) and I get 18mpg (I'll drive the speed limit), it will cost me just over $550 in petrol alone, plus if I went by traditional US car service history 2 oil changes, and a few bucks for the campsite that I'll sleep in. It's amazing how air travel costs have come down.

Travelling by plane does have it's down side though, I doubt you'd get to see the worlds biggest ball of string, or other exciting sights from the plane. In case you're wondering I am being serious I would quite like to see things like the worlds biggest ball of string or the worlds largest tyre heap. I have already seen the worlds biggest heap of socks, that's somewhere near Boston.

Gravatar Image1 - Yeah, American and others are seriously competing w/ Jet Blue on CA and FL routes out of Boston, so prices are insanely cheap at the moment.

If you're interested in the worlds larget ball of string and other exciting destinations check out http://www.roadchix.com . One of the Chix (Kristy) used to work for me and is also a great graphics designer - she and her fellow chick (who I think lives in Boston) spend half their lives planning these great trips and then write about them on their site. They also do great all day scavenger hunts in DC and Boston. Enjoy.
