How our memories change

Category
My niece called me on the phone today to ask me if I still had my Spiderman costume, obviously this was a strange request to get from my niece so I tried to get to the bottom of it.

Turns out my sister had been telling her about how I got a Spiderman costume for Christmas (yes this was something I desperately wanted), what my sister also told her was how she had "accidentally" told me I was getting a Spiderman costume before Christmas arrived. Now I remember none of this, none at all, my niece and sister think it's the funniest thing but I seriously remember none of that. I can remember being very proud of the costume (it wasn't really a costume it was the real thing), so I decided to see if I had a picture of the costume anywhere with the very high expectations of how great and realistic the outfit looked.

So when you see the costume in the picture you'll begin to say, what the hell was I thinking? That's not a spider that's a flea, and also didn't spider man have all his teeth? So somehow, as a kid I was duped into thinking that was the real thing, and somehow as a kid I was willing to believe it. I don't really mind though, I thought it was totally cool and my Mum made it which made it even better as I knew it was one of a kind like Spideys. I also found a picture of Flight Deck shortly before I went solo, which was mentioned earlier in the blog. What's interesting about this picture, is that for a split second I thought there was a Microsoft box in the picture (bottom right), then I remembered, it was my older brothers Microscope. There is a funny story about the plastercast set which my sister got, but I will save that for another day. There are no presents for my younger brother in this picture as he was still gestating.
