I'm seeing a trend...

Bambi Francisco of CBS Marketwatch (met her last week in San Jose, and she's quite cute if anyone wondered, too petite for me, but cute none the less), just posted the "Microsoft's IM strategy is tough to beat" article. It's an interesting read with some good quotes:
"Microsoft said it's investing $1 billion in real-time technology and now it's bringing to market the solution they've talked about in the last 18 months," said Stowe Boyd

Imagine a bunch of Microsoft applications and tools combined with real-time, or (get used to this word) "presence" functionality.

"Each product is designed to be the best of breed... something a customer can deploy on its own," said Ed Simnet, lead product manager for Microsoft's LCS. "But when you deploy all together, there are additional benefits."

For instance, if you're working on a Word document and type in a bunch of names, you may be able to put your cursor on top of a name and know whether that person is online, according to Simnet.

What a genius idea
