Spent Saturday at the Newport Rhode Island Boat Show, I have a couple of friends with boats down in Newport (right next to Christies) so it's always good to go down crash their boats and then go around the show. So why should I break the tradition this year?

First thing I noticed this year is that they really have increased the price of parking compared to earlier years, came as a bit of shock to find out the parking was $35 versus the regular $10! Talking of money, one of the things that always blows my mind when I go down there is the size of some of the boats and the money that must have been involved in buying them (let alone maintaining them). I am constantly amazed at the boats that have a full crew, but are maybe only used a few weeks a year by their owners.

My bank manager can be very relieved that I didn't buy anything, although we had to work hard to keep one my buddies cheque book in his pocket as he did like a nice catamaran they had at the show.
