Gone Fishing...

QuickImage Category
After a couple of different customer meetings yesterday, Peyton and I hooked up to get in a little fishing up by his house in New Hampshire. I am very pleased to say, we caught some fish, but it wasn't until today that I finally found out what they were.

The fish were "redbreast sunfish", they aren't big fish, didn't put up much of a fight, but they loved the bait we were using, so we were only there for about 2 hours and caught 9 fish between us, I caught seven and Peyton caught 2.

Peyton started by using a rubber worm, where as I started of with a size 14 hook, a float and some live grubs (ugly little things they eat on shows like Fear Factor all the time). It was the first time I had ever used the grubs, as I couldn't find anywhere that sells maggots here, they worked really well but were a bugger to put on the hook. Within about 2 minutes of my fist cast I was reeling in the first fish.

Things learnt whilst fishing with Peyton:
  • If your life depends on Peyton removing the hook from the mouth of a fish, best find some other survival technique quick!
  • If the hook should accidentally go through the fishes head and out the eye (Peyton was using a big hook!), don't even count on Peyton being around to see his catch
  • If only closing sales was as easy as reeling in a fish
  • Always slide your hand from the head to tail on a spikey fish when holding it, ouch
  • Mosquitos should be treated the same way as skunks (see previous post for my feelings about skunks)
  • New Hampshire has some beautiful rivers and lakes

Question:How do they know the fish doesn't feel the hook or pain?

Gravatar Image1 - Peyton/Carl - every try fly fishing? If you ever get to the west side of the continent..check out Big Sky Montana and go fishing in the Gallatin Valley...I think you'd love it! Also good salmon and steel fishing up here.

As for me...well...I have a hard time putting those worms on the hooks...
