A weekend in the city
I caught up with Thomas Gumz on Thursday, he recently moved down to Manhattan from Massachussets (it must be love) so I hadn't seen him in a couple of months. He's been pretty busy working on the new webadmin client in Domino 7.x, he was really excited to show me it working in Mozilla. I think my expression of "yeah so?" didn't really please him that much.
Anyway, this weekend he had a spare ticket to go and see The Cure at Randalls Island, so who am I to turn down such a great offer. In the camera pictures on the right I'm sure you'll find a very fetching picture of Thomas trying on some potential new sun glasses. The Cure I have to say were very good. I have a lot of respect for bands that sound as good live as they do on the radio, too many bands today are so produced that they cannot perform without lipsyncing. Not The Cure, this is a band that learned their skill performing live in pubs and every word was crystal clear and blasted out. By the end of the night the crowd was beginning to smell a lot like an old Scout tent, so I was pleased they only did a couple of encores.
It turns out two encores is the norm for The Cure, or so Thomas says, and as this was his 5th or 6th time seeing them, who am I to question! He can't be a true Cure fan though, as he didn't have on any eyeliner.
Oh and a small hint, if you ever go to see a concert on Randalls Island, DO NOT, and I say again DO NOT attempt to walk of the island. If you see a bus, do not think about it, just get on it, otherwise you can walk around for ages.
