HP Pavilion Notebook PC with AMD Athlon™ 64 Processor 3200+
I looked at it this weekend, it's not an IBM Thinkpad, but it has a DVD burner, stonking fast processor, and even with IBMs 40% discount for partners it comes out way cheaper than any thinkpad with a spec that is semi close to this one. It has a touchpad, but it can easily be turned off by pressing a button, not sure on the power adapter yet, but with the amount I save over the IBM I could buy a couple more adapters in the future.
It seems crazy that the IBMs even with a huge discount can't come close to this price, and I'd really rather get a Thinkpad.

I've currently got an HP Omnibook 6000, almost 4 years old at this point and still works like a charm.
