How to test specific Sametime client version connectivity - New free tool

Category
Back in IBM Lotus Sametime 3.1, IBM made it possible to restrict which client versions were able to connect to the Sametime.  This came about because of a security exposure in early Sametime clients, but has proven useful since then for restricting full clients if you're only licensed to use Sametime Entry for example.  The difficult thing for a Sametime administrator, is it's hard to test those parameters unless you install the different Sametime client versions, of which there are now quite a few, and even with VMWare, that's going to take a while.

So following a discussion thread in the Sametime Forum where I was helping someone (an IBMer I believe) with an issue they were having,  I took the code that I provided to them, modified it a bit and built a little tool that a Sametime Administrator can use to test different client types, without having to install the client.

You can download and get more details of the tool here http://www.epilio.com/web/logintester.htm

If you use this, or any of the other free tools or plug-ins from the Epilio website, be sure to hit the Facebook like button.  Yeah see, there's no such thing as free, I expect you to hit a like button!
